Until October 31, 2025, you can explore the Museum of Illusions, located in the historic Palazzo Belloni in the heart of Bologna. This is a surprising journey where art and science meet to deceive (and fascinate) our perception. Inside, you’ll find over 70 installations, including interactive works, visual games, and photographic attractions. Among the most striking are upside-down rooms, slanted floors, perspective illusions, and moving figures that are actually static. One of the highlights is the optical illusion inspired by the famous Asinelli Tower, where visitors appear to “grow” or “shrink” simply by changing position.
The exhibition also features multimedia installations and augmented reality experiences. For those interested, a virtual guide named Umberto Lesperto is available to explain the scientific principles behind each illusion in a clear and engaging way.
The Museum of Illusions is about a 10-minute walk from Locanda dell’Orsa and is open Monday to Thursday and on Sunday from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM, and on Friday and Saturday until 8:00 PM. Full-price tickets cost €18, and reduced tickets are €12.
