From 10 November to 26 December, the Antica Fiera di Santa Lucia di Bologna (Saint Lucy’s Fair in Bologna) returns, a traditional event that animates the monumental entrance of the Church of Santa Maria dei Servi just a few hundred metres from the Two Towers and a little further away from the Locanda dell’Orsa in Via Marsala 18.
The Antica Fiera di Santa Lucia is one of the main events in the Emilia Romagna region that determines the countdown to Christmas shopping in Bologna. For generations, the Antica Fiera di Santa Lucia has accompanied families in Bologna as they prepare for Christmas. Its origins date back to the end of the 16th century.
Within the Santa Lucia Fair, it is, in fact, possible to buy numerous sweets, including nougat and chocolate, beautiful handmade clothes, and famous decorations and figurines for the Nativity scene.
